Cunard celebrates the float out of Queen Anne with milestone ceremony in Italy

Southampton/Trieste, May 3, 2023 – The world’s most iconic luxury cruise brand celebrated a momentous construction milestone today with the float out of Queen Anne at the Fincantieri Marghera shipyard in Venice, Italy.

The 249th ship to sail under the Cunard flag, Queen Anne officially touched water for the first time exactly 365 days before she will set sail on her maiden voyage to Lisbon on 3 May 2024.

Steeped in tradition, the float out is marked by a special ceremony where a ‘Madrina’ is named to offer blessings and best wishes for the ship, celebrating the flow of water into the ship's dry dock.

Carnival UK President, Sture Myrmell, said: “We are delighted to celebrate this important milestone in the construction of Queen Anne. The float out ceremony marks the ship’s transition from her building dock to where she truly belongs – in the water. Today marks a significant moment for Queen Anne as we recognise the dedication by the master ship builders at Fincantieri to build a ship that reinforces our position as a world-famous luxury brand”.

Luigi Matarazzo, General Manager Merchant Ships Division of Fincantieri, stated: “Queen Anne is the third ship we have the pleasure to build for Cunard, a pillar in the history of British seafaring, with whom we share a real commitment to excellence. Building a liner for this shipowner takes us back to our roots yet, at the same time, spurs us forward to the future in a spirit of determination to bring together tradition and innovation and further strengthen our longstanding relationship”.

The float out, completes the first comprehensive phase of construction for Queen Anne, which now transitions to focus on building the luxury ship's interiors.

The design concepts for Cunard’s newest ship have been founded on heritage, craftmanship, style, storytelling, and innovation, and the 113,000-ton, 3,000-guest Queen Anne, which spans 14 decks, will offer travellers several breath-taking moments, including the largest curated art collection at sea.

For more than 180 years, Cunard has constantly refined the definitive experience of ocean travel, and Queen Anne will be bursting with Cunard’s signature experiences, including world-class dining, exceptional entertainment, and luxurious accommodation.

Entering service in May 2024, Queen Anne will make up a remarkable quartet for Cunard alongside Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth. It will be the first time since 1999 that Cunard will have four ships in simultaneous service.

The float out ceremony follows September’s iconic keel laying, in which a coin was embedded into the ship’s keel by Captain Inger Thorhauge, alongside an original coin from the ship’s namesake’s reign, to mark the formal start of her construction.

Coronation Celebrations at Sea on board Cunard's Three Queens

Please note: some posts may contain affiliate links which means our team could earn money if you purchase products from our site

Coronation Celebrations at Sea on board Cunard's Three Queens

VALENCIA, Calif., May 2, 2023 -- Cunard joins the celebration in marking the historic coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort with a range of coronation-themed activities planned on all three of its Queens.

From street parties in the majestic Grand Lobby to themed musical performances, films and quizzes, guests on board Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth will be able to truly immerse themselves in the regal festivities.

An exclusive Coronation dinner menu has been created for the evening of Saturday, May 6, inspired by King Charles' love of farming, agriculture, game, and organic principles. It features a selection of specially curated dishes showcasing some of his favorite ingredients, to create a meal that perfectly commemorates this auspicious occasion.

Specially designed cocktails will be available to toast Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort, including a "Coronation Oath" made with Prosecco, White Vermouth, Grapefruit and Cardamom Bitters and a "Monarch Martini" using Cunard's 3 Queens Gin.

All three ships will be at sea for the big day and will broadcast the ceremony live from Westminster Abbey into the ships' Royal Court Theatres and stateroom TVs. Queen Elizabeth guests will be just starting their nine-night tour of Southern Japan and Taiwan, visiting the stunningly beautiful island of Hualien and the idyllic tropical paradise of Miyakojima, while Queen Victoria will be returning from a 12-night voyage around the Canary Islands.

A brand-new Coronation Celebration voyage was announced earlier this week, with Queen Mary 2 sailing roundtrip from Southampton on May 2 to Cunard's spiritual home port of Liverpool.

Cunard's world-renowned Insights program across the fleet will feature royal commentator Dickie Arbiter, historian Caroline Aston and etiquette expert Grant Harrold.

Each ship will also host a deck walk in honor of The Big Help Out on Monday May 8, to raise money for youth charity The Prince's Trust, a proud partner of Cunard's for the past 15 years since the Queen Consort was named as godmother to Queen Victoria in 2007. This significant milestone will be celebrated on a special British Isles voyage in August. To date, thanks to the generosity of guests, crew and friends, Cunard has raised over $3.37 million for the Trust. The charity helps young people who have faced disadvantage and adversity to build a better future for themselves, through employment, education and enterprise.

Cunard's royal connections date back to August 1861, when Prince Alfred sailed from Halifax to Liverpool on Cunard's SS Arabia. More recently, Cunard is immensely proud that members of the royal family have graced each of the ships in its current fleet.

Oceania Cruises Takes Delivery of and Announces Leadership Team for Newest Ship Vista

MIAMI, May 1, 2023 -- Oceania Cruises, the world's leading culinary- and destination-focused cruise line, has welcomed its newest ship – Vista. Delivered at Fincantieri's shipyard in Genoa, Italy, Oceania Cruises' initial Allura Class ship features several firsts in the realms of dining, accommodation and guest experience.

This 67,000-ton, 791-foot-long ship is one of the most anticipated new ships to join the global cruise fleet in 2023. The 1,200-guest Vista boasts the most spacious standard staterooms at sea, three brand-new dining concepts and operates with a market-leading service ratio of two staff members for every three guests. She is highly anticipated by brand loyal and new guests alike, with only a few select staterooms available for her inaugural summer season in the Mediterranean.

Vista builds on Oceania Cruises' exemplary reputation of destination-rich itineraries with world-class service and The Finest Cuisine at Sea® by offering 11 culinary venues, three of which are new concepts – Ember, a signature restaurant featuring elevated American cuisine; Aquamar Kitchen, which brings wellness offerings to a new level; and The Bakery at Baristas, an expansion of popular coffee bar Baristas, serving freshly baked French and Italian pastries. In addition to an elevated mixology program with innovative specialty cocktails, Vista's new Broadway-caliber productions feature recognizable songs by some of the world's most beloved artists and contemporary dance numbers led by "Dancing with the Stars" choreographer Britt Stewart.

"Today we usher in a new era for Oceania Cruises with the delivery of Vista," said Frank A. Del Rio, President of Oceania Cruises. "We could not have built such an exceptional ship without the close partnership enjoyed with Fincantieri. We thank each and every person who had a hand in bringing her to life. From the smallest of design details to the largest per capita galley at sea, Vista is a marvel that will be enjoyed by guests for decades to come."

When constructing Vista, Fincantieri's key intention was to embody Oceania Cruises' commitment to luxury and top-of-the-line guest experiences. The innovative ship is a reflection of Fincantieri's extensive abilities and commitment to quality.

Vista will be christened on May 8, 2023, in an exclusive glittering ceremony in Valletta, Malta, by her godmother, celebrated Italian-American chef, author, restaurateur and Emmy Award-winning food personality Giada De Laurentiis.

After her summer season in the Mediterranean, Vista will sail to Canada and New England before heading south for a series of winter itineraries exploring the Caribbean, Mexico and Central America.

SEATTLE, May 1, 2023 -- Holland America Line kicked off its 2023 Alaska cruise season today with the arrival of Eurodam at Port of Seattle. Known as "Seattle's Hometown Cruise Line," Holland America Line marked the day with a welcome celebration at Pier 91 that included a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Miss Washington Regan Gallo and Miss Alaska Jessica Reisinger.

To honor its 150th Anniversary, Holland America Line presented a commemorative plaque to Port of Seattle and made a donation to Seattle-based organization The Pastry Project. Fanfare on the pier also included a performance by an ensemble from the University of Washington marching band. Westerdam begins its Alaska season cruising roundtrip from Seattle Sunday, May 7, 2023.

"As the pioneer and leader in Alaska cruising, Holland America Line is excited to start the season today celebrating our 150th Anniversary in our hometown," said Beth Bodensteiner, Holland America Line's chief commercial officer. "Not only is Holland America Line headquartered in Seattle, but it's a key homeport for our brand. With two ships based here and four more in Vancouver through September, we're ready for a robust Alaska season of cruising and cruisetours including land trips to Denali and Yukon."

Holland America Line also cruises to Alaska via Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and those sailings begin Monday, May 1, with Koningsdam. On Tuesday, May 2, the cruise line will hold a celebratory event in Vancouver on Noordam with a 150th Anniversary plaque presentation to Port of Vancouver and a donation to YWCA Crabtree Corner. Family travel is back in full force. According to the Family Travel Association, 85% of parents are likely to travel with their kids and 47% with their extended family and friends in 2023. But family vacationers also expect challenges, like finding things to do that everyone can enjoy and “me time.” There’s a vacation that offers all that and more arriving in January 2024 – Royal Caribbean International’s Icon of the Seas.

Royal Caribbean reveals more next-level experiences designed specifically for kids, teens and any adults who want to join in on the action—or kick back and watch their families. And for the first time, Royal Caribbean will welcome Admiral Awesome. The newly created position will be in charge of the family excitement on Icon – sure to be the head of LOL (leader of laughter).

From bow to stern, every member of the family can find ways to make memories together and on their own adventures. Here are the highlights for young families, older kids and teens, and friends.

Young Families

Parents can join in or kick back while the little ones stay entertained for hours in Surfside, the ultimate stay-all-day neighborhood designed for young families.

  • The Larger-than-Life Family Festival, hosted by Admiral Awesome, is a celebration with live music, dancing and supersized games like bowling, ring toss, darts and more.

  • After days at play, kids can get cozy and wind down under the stars with Once Upon a Bedtime Story, the new readings of original bedtime stories narrated by Admiral Awesome.

  • There are food and drinks for everyone in Surfside, like The Lemon Post, with menus of unique drinks for adults and kids; Surfside Bites, a convenient window for a quick stop to grab salty and sweet snacks; Surfside Eatery, a buffet dedicated to families that serves up favorites for the whole bunch; and Pier 7 for all-day brunch.

Youngsters can let their imaginations roam free with dedicated spaces and activities that engage all the senses, including a place to tinker at Workshop, Hangout – with games and cozy spots to lounge – AO Babies for the youngest of the bunch and more.

Older Kids and Teens

Older kids and teens have experiences that suit their style and age across adrenaline-pumping thrills and plenty of ways to chill in their dedicated teens space, the Thrill Island neighborhood and more.

  • Social 020, a hidden, teens-only hangout with video games, music, movies and comfy lounging.

  • Returning favorites and reimagined experiences in Thrill Island include Royal Caribbean’s most epic mini golf course, Lost Dunes, rock climbing to the max at Adrenaline Peak, the FlowRider surf simulator and the Sports Court for basketball, soccer and more.

Families and Friends

Kids, teens, parents, extended family members and beyond also have ways to make memories together.

A wide variety of AIDA cruises from Kiel. AIDA ships have started the summer season 2023

Please note: some posts may contain affiliate links which means our team could earn money if you purchase products from our site

April 28, 2023 10:40 AM CEST— With AIDAluna, the first AIDA ship has arrived in Kiel this season already on April 21, 2023. A total of three ships in the AIDA Cruises fleet are expected to call at the Kiel Fjord 64 times during the 2023 summer season. The last call of the season will be on November 4 with AIDAnova, which is also the largest ship for the seaport of Kiel this season: The first call will be next Saturday, April 29, 2023.

During the nearly seven-month season, guests can choose from a wide variety of different cruises departing from the Schleswig-Holstein state capital: Whether the Baltic Sea, Norway's fjords or the Arctic Circle - there is a perfect match for every vacation seeker. The three-, four- and five-day AIDA cruises also offer perfect relaxation for a short break in between.

AIDA's taster cruises from Kiel are perfect for those who want to discover the adventure of cruising for themselves: On the three-day cruises in May and September 2023, it goes with AIDAluna through the the archipelago of Denmark with stops in Århus and Copenhagen. On the four-day short cruises to Norway and Denmark, guests will not only experience wonderful metropolises of Northern Europe with Oslo and Copenhagen, but also the unique Oslofjord and Holmenkollen with the oldest ski jump in the world.

From mid-May 2023, AIDAluna will set course for the "Highlights at the Arctic Circle": Destinations such as the North Cape, the Orkney Islands, three stops on Iceland and Norwegian ports such as Tromsø and Hammerfest feature on the program on six different dates on the 17-day voyage. The highlight of this itinerary is Spitsbergen, a group of islands in the Arctic Ocean. Spitsbergen is one of the northernmost destinations on earth and impresses with its barren landscape of glaciers, mountains and fjords. Polar bears, reindeer and foxes live here in their natural environment. The capital, Longyearbyen, is known for its colorful wooden houses that contrast with the white surroundings.

The itineraries of AIDAbella are just as diverse, including 14-day voyages "Norway with Lofoten & North Cape." This route combines the most beautiful charms of Norway: starting in Kiel, guests sail on five dates via Haugesund to the North Cape and then to the Lofoten Islands. Further destinations are Bodø, Åndalsnes, Molde, Bergen and Århus - a north country adventure for each taste.

For the seven- or 14-day voyages with AIDAnova between May 6 and October 21, 2023, AIDA Cruises has developed attractive routes to Norway and Denmark for its guests. In Norway, guests will experience not only the charming capital of Oslo with its innovative architecture, museums and newly developed neighborhoods, but also sun-drenched Kristiansand with its old town of Posebyen, where the white wooden houses reflect the sunlight. Numerous sights and urban lifestyle await guests in Denmark's capital Copenhagen. In Skagen, on the other hand, visitors are attracted by endless beaches and the country's largest shifting sand dune, from which only the tower of the silted-up parish church still peeks out. This is the only place where you can bathe with one leg in the Baltic Sea and the other in the North Sea.

This year's Kiel Week will take place from June 17 to 25, 2023. Once again, AIDA Cruises will be on board as event sponsor of the world-renowned sailing and summer festival. The cruise company will present itself to the public during the nine-day event with a total of three ships and four calls by AIDAnova (June 17 and 24), AIDAluna (June 23) and AIDAbella (June 25) on sea and shore with an inviting AIDA vacation world.

Lewie the Lion: The new Holland America Line’s Mascot debut on King’s Day

Please note: some posts may contain affiliate links which means our team could earn money if you purchase products from our site

"We’re not the only ones celebrating King’s Day on April 27. Holland America Line is proud to introduce its loyal furry friend and mascot, Lewie! Donning his best orange tie and majestic mane, Lewie descends from a long line of Dutch lions living in Rotterdam, and he loves traveling by sea. In fact, he got a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of the festivities celebrating our 150th anniversary on April 18 in Rotterdam where he roared with excitement.”

“Recognizing lions have been a national symbol of strength and courage to the people of the Netherlands for generations, Lewie takes great pride in his lineage. Passionate about traveling the world aboard Holland America Line’s fleet, Lewie loves experiencing the rich cultures of the places he visits. He’s also a modern traveler who enjoys making new friends, both on ship and in the wild. Today, in honor of King’s Day, he’s hosting an Orange Party with the other lions in his pride, but you’ll see him late summer 2023 in gift shops (onboard only) across our fleet.”

“Please join us in giving Lewie two paws up as we prepare to welcome him aboard in the months ahead.”

About King’s Day

“Recognized as a holiday on April 27 in the Netherlands, King’s Day honors the birthday of the reigning Dutch monarch. The original holiday began on August 31, 1885, as Prinsessedag, or Princess’s Day, in honor of the fifth birthday of Princess Wilhelmina. She was crowned as Queen in 1890 under the regency of her mother, Queen Emma, and the first Koninginnedag was celebrated in 1891 in the Netherlands. The date of the holiday then moved to recognize her daughter, Queen Juliana, when she assumed the throne in 1948. King’s Day took on its current name, Koningsdag, on April 27, 2014, after His Majesty King Willem-Alexander, King of the Netherlands, Prince of Orange-Nassau, ascended to the throne the previous year.”

“At Holland America Line, we take great joy in celebrating King’s Day each year, given our roots in the Netherlands and ties to its royal family. In fact, members of the Dutch Royal Family have launched 13 Holland America Line vessels — from Prince Hendrik naming Statendam III in 1929 to Princess Margriet christening Rotterdam in 2022. Most recently, Holland America Line President Gus Antorcha was joined by Princess Margriet for a 150th anniversary celebration at Hotel New York, home to Holland America Line’s original headquarters from 1901 to 1977.”

“From concerts to street parties, the people of the Netherlands host big, orange-accented celebrations in honor of the royal House of Orange-Nassau.”

“You’ll find that same spirit aboard all our ships at the Orange Party, where Holland America Line guests and crew don their best orange attire for a night of music, dancing and specialty cocktails. Every cruise year-round has an Orange Party inspired by King’s Day celebrations.”

“Proost (that’s “Cheers” in Dutch) to all our friends near and far this King’s Day, including our lion, Lewie. May today and every day bring you joy and adventure.”

All sailings include stops at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.

"We are excited to welcome the MSC Seaside to Port Canaveral, yet another beautiful ship in the MSC Cruises line up to call Port Canaveral home,” said Capt. John Murray, Port Canaveral CEO. "We are proud of our relationship with MSC Cruises, and delighted to be the homeport for this new vessel class. Our Port is setting the standard for excellence in the industry. We’re committed to delivering a world-class experience for all cruise guests."

In a traditional maritime ceremony, Kevin Markey, Chairman of Canaveral Port Authority and Port officials presented MSC Seaside Capt. Michele Di Mauro with a plaque commemorating the cruise ship's first call to the Port.

"The arrival of the MSC Seaside is another great milestone for Port Canaveral and the Space Coast region, further solidifying our position as the top cruise port in the world," said Canaveral Port Authority Chairman Kevin Markey. "We are committed to continuing our efforts to responsibly grow our Port to promote the economic growth and prosperity of our local community and the state of Florida."

MSC Cruises began year-round service from Port Canaveral in 2021 with the inaugural arrival of the MSC Divina. Recognizing the convenience of easy access for cruise guests and modern terminals and amenities that make it an excellent homeport for the cruise line, MSC Cruises added the MSC Meraviglia to the Port Canaveral rotation for U.S. sailings. MSC Meraviglia, now homeported in New York, returns to Port Canaveral weekly for provisioning calls.

“We built MSC Seaside specifically for Caribbean cruising, with an incredible amount of outdoor space and a sweeping waterfront promenade that allows guests to truly connect with the sea during their time on board,” said Rubén A. Rodríguez, President, MSC Cruises USA. “It’s a privilege for MSC Cruises to play a role in Port Canaveral’s growth with the deployment of yet another large and modern ship in our U.S. fleet. MSC Seaside’s beautiful amenities go hand in hand with our international heritage and the natural beauty and sustainability of Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, our private destination in The Bahamas, to represent our unique vision for Caribbean cruising. We’re thrilled to share that experience with guests sailing from Port Canaveral.”

The MSC Seaside offers a wide variety of impressive amenities, including a seafront promenade, two glass-floor catwalks, and panoramic elevators. Passengers sailing the Seaside will also have the opportunity to upgrade to MSC's exclusive Yacht Club or Aurea Spa cabin categories.

The Seaside boasts nine restaurants, including the Pan Asian Market Kitchen by Roy Yamaguchi, and 19 bars and lounges, including the Venchi 1878 Chocolate Bar and Venchi 1878 Gelato & Creperie.

There is no shortage of entertainment options on the Seaside, with the Metropolitan Theater, Forest Aquaventure Park, two full-sized bowling alleys, and clubs for kids among a multitude of options. The ship's impressive sea views and outdoor spaces make the MSC Seaside a vacation experience for all ages.

The MSC Seaside, built in 2017, is a 1,060-foot Seaside-class cruise ship with a distinctive aft design and guest capacity for approximately 4,000 passengers double-occupancy.

During spring and fall 2024, Costa Fortuna will offer mini-vacations of three to five days in the Western Mediterranean, and many different two-week itineraries: to Morocco and Lisbon, with two-day calls in Lisbon and Casablanca; to Israel, Egypt, and Tunisia, with twoday calls in Haifa to also visit Jerusalem; to Turkey, Greece, and Tunisia, with two-day calls in Istanbul; and lastly between the Greek islands and Ibiza.

Also scheduled for summer 2024, Costa Fascinosa, initially planned for Northern Europe, will instead offer the one-week cruise program to Malta and the Greek islands, with calls in Catania, Taranto, Santorini, Mykonos, and La Valletta, which will be preceded by a twoweek cruise to the Canary Islands and a mini-vacation in the Mediterranean.

Two ships, Costa Favolosa and Costa Diadema, will operate in Northern Europe in the summer of 2024, proposing the best of Costa's programs in this region, with cruises to discover incredible landscapes, including spectacular fjords, villages nestled between green mountains and blue sea, and the unique phenomenon of the midnight sun.

Costa Favolosa will offer three different itineraries, from 13 to 22 days, departing from Hamburg, bound for North Cape and the Lofoten Islands, Iceland, Greenland, plus a new 8-day itinerary dedicated to Scotland. Costa Diadema will offer week-long cruises to the Norwegian fjords

LOS ANGELES, April 26, 2023 -- Viking® (www.viking.com) today announced it has taken delivery of the company's newest ocean ship, the Viking Saturn®. The delivery ceremony took place this morning when the ship was presented at Fincantieri's shipyard in Ancona, Italy. Viking also announced that the Viking Saturn will be officially named in New York City on June 6, 2023, by her ceremonial godmother, Ann Ziff, the esteemed philanthropist and Chairman of the Metropolitan Opera—a longtime Viking cultural partner. Following the naming ceremony, the ship will spend her inaugural summer sailing two new Viking voyages: Iconic Iceland, Greenland & Canada, between New York City and Reykjavík, and Iceland & Norway's Arctic Explorer, between Reykjavík and Bergen.

"We are very proud to welcome the newest sister ship to our award-winning ocean fleet," said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking. "We are also grateful that Ann Ziff has honored us by serving as godmother of the Viking Saturn. Having traveled with us for years, Ann is a loyal Viking guest, and she shares our commitment to the arts and cultural enrichment. Her contributions to the Metropolitan Opera, one of our longtime cultural partners, as well as many other important causes are truly impressive."

"I am delighted to serve as godmother of the Viking Saturn," said Ann Ziff. "For those who are curious about the world, there is no better way to explore and immerse yourself than from the comfort of a Viking ship."

Ann Ziff, Godmother of the Viking Saturn

A dedicated philanthropist focused on the arts, education, culture and environmental conservation, Ann Ziff is Chairman of the Metropolitan Opera and serves on several boards, including the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Sing for Hope, the World Science Festival and the Los Angeles Opera. Passionate about bringing culture and arts into the lives of children in need, she co-founded Smile Train and was a board member at Maloto, an organization that provides education and housing for abused and abandoned girls in Malawi. Ms. Ziff also has an eponymous fine jewelry brand, Tamsen Z, where she designs and creates one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by her love of culture, art and music as well as her travels as a loyal Viking guest.

Viking and the Metropolitan Opera

The Metropolitan Opera is home to the most creative and talented musicians around the world and has been a Viking cultural partner since 2016. On board Viking's ocean ships, guests are treated to the Metropolitan Opera's award-winning Live in HD series, including an exclusive viewing of Mozart's The Magic Flute. As part of Viking's continued commitment to support enriching cultural programming, other premier partnerships and sponsorships include Ballet Sun Valley, BBC, Highclere Castle, Los Angeles Philharmonic, PBS' MASTERPIECE, RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Oslo's Munch Museum, TED and many others.

The Viking Saturn

The Viking Saturn is the newest ship in Viking's award-winning ocean fleet of identical sister ships. Classified by Cruise Critic as "small ships," Viking's ocean vessels have a gross tonnage of 47,800 tons, with 465 staterooms that host 930 guests; the ships feature all veranda staterooms, Scandinavian design, light-filled public spaces and abundant al fresco dining options.

The delivery of the Viking Saturn comes as Viking continues celebrating its 25th anniversary. In January 2023, the company had its most successful single month of bookings following recent years of strong growth. Since 2020, Viking has welcomed 17 new ships to its fleet—including eight new Viking Longships on the rivers of Europe; new purpose-built vessels on the Mekong, Nile and Mississippi rivers; four new, identical ocean ships; and two Polar Class expedition vessels. Most recently, Viking was voted "Best Cruise Line" by Food & Wine readers in the publication's inaugural Global Tastemakers Awards. In March 2023, the company dominated Cruise Critic's Cruisers' Choice Awards, receiving top honors in six categories including "Best Overall Line," "Best River Line," and "Best Dining" for its ocean and expedition voyages. Additionally, Viking has been named both the #1 Ocean Line and #1 River Line by both Travel + Leisure and Condé Nast Traveler, making it the first line ever to simultaneously earn #1 in its categories from both publications.

MIAMI, April 25, 2023 – Carnival Jubilee, the next new ship in the Excel class, will debut fun, unique and immersive ocean-themed experiences in two new zones: Currents and The Shores, along with guest favorites and, of course, the fleet’s third roller coaster at sea when she debuts later this year. To take a look at all of her unique features, click here.

Currents, encompassing Deck 6 and Deck 7, is an awe-inspiring, immersive and transformative space that takes guests below the waves with a playful vibe featuring innovative technology, new and exciting bar and dining venues and live music. When guests step into Currents, they will be transported to mesmerizing underwater worlds, both realistic and fantastical, in a beautiful space that changes from day to night and throughout the cruise. The portals to the sea comprise six huge LED windows which, along with a massive wave-shaped LED ceiling, theatrical show lighting and captivating sound design will create a variety of immersive environments for guests to enjoy as they try new, unique cocktails and flavorful dishes. Venues within Currents include:

  • Dr.Inks, Ph.D – Eight crafty octopus arms adorn this fun bar, inspired by the cleverest of sea creatures who spends her time philosophizing about life underwater while enjoying a tasty libation. Unique ocean-themed drinks such as color-changing cocktails, jellyfish and layered shots and playful items featuring sea foam, boba pearls and unique garnishes are as visually striking as they are delicious. Dr.Inks’ fun and quirky personality is at the center of this experience and comes to life through her musings on the menu and her favorite books, journals and fountain pens on display. Guests will enjoy tasty drinks, live music and great company as they relax and people-watch at this along-the-way bar surrounded by an environment that transports guests to Dr.Inks’ underwater home.

  • The Golden Mermaid – This ultra-stylish lounge is home to a mysterious golden mermaid who swims to the depths of the oceans to find long-lost treasures of ancient civilizations and uncovers secret cocktail recipes. Cocktails inspired by precious gemstones and metals are made with edible glitter, as well as drinks presented in pretty glassware and adorned with graceful garnishes for an elevated experience. The live band on stage will provide a lively backdrop to fun conversation and the comfortable lounge seating is the perfect place to relax with an elegant drink before or after dinner.

  • Emeril’s Bistro 717 – The line’s Chief Culinary Officer, renowned chef and restauranteur Emeril Lagasse, is back by popular demand, bringing guest-favorite creole cuisine, an expansive seafood selection and expanded raw bar created in his unique style. Named after Carnival Jubilee’s hull number at Meyer Werft in Germany, Emeril’s Bistro 717 will serve a rich breakfast with dishes such as shrimp and grits, poached eggs and fixings and sweet beignets. Guests will also enjoy lunch and dinner with seafood creations such as creole boiled shrimp, fresh oysters, stone crab (seasonally) and lobster, as well as authentic Louisiana cuisine featuring Emeril’s signature jambalaya, New Orleans-style barbeque shrimp and duck and sausage gumbo. As if all that flavor wasn’t enough, guests can enjoy their meal while sitting beneath impressive LED windows and a ceiling array creating a unique underwater dining experience.

Additional venues in Currents include guest favorites Alchemy Bar and Carnival Kitchen.

On Deck 8, The Shores is the place where the ocean meets land, a zone that’s inspired by the ways people enjoy the seaside including piers, boardwalks and beaches. An impressive three-deck-high fish school art installation rises from Deck 6 all the way to Deck 8 to bring guests up from the Currents below to the surface.

Guests will stroll along the boardwalk alongside colorful and playful designs, including a fun Ferris wheel- inspired ceiling feature, and casual seating areas, both inside and outside. Guests can enjoy a fresh hot pizza at Coastal Slice or try a tasty sandwich or hot dog at Beach Buns. Marina Bar features fun nautical designs and comfortable lounge seating for enjoying coffee and cocktails inside by the boardwalk or outside by the sea. Rudi’s Seagrill and Cucina del Capitano return with indoor and al fresco seating.

The other four zones of Carnival Jubilee will be home to spectacular activities and venues that guests have gotten to love on both Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration. From the transformational three-deck-high atrium that guests see when they first board to the fun for all-ages attractions that fill the top deck, the ship will also include these zones that are sure to wow:

  • Grand Central – The heart of Carnival Jubilee, this awe-inspiring area of the ship spans Deck 6, 7 and 8. During the day, it’s a beautiful space for guests to enjoy a drink from the JavaBlue Café, or one of the area’s bars as they take in breathtaking ocean views. At night, the zone transforms as movable LED screens and a stage create an innovative entertainment space which allows for truly spectacular performances. Grand Central also connects guests to guest favorites, including Piano Bar 88, The Punchliner Comedy Club, Cloud 9 Fitness Center, Cherry on Top, Bonsai Sushi and Teppanyaki, a variety of shopping venues, as well as the casino and theater.

  • The Ultimate Playground – BOLT, the Ultimate Sea Coaster, is the centerpiece of the ship’s top deck and features all-electric, motorcycle-inspired vehicles that race along the 800-foot-long track, 187 feet above the sea achieving speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. BOLT will soar above other popular attractions designed for fun for all ages, including WaterWorks aqua park and SportSquare featuring a mini-golf course, full-court basketball and an exhilarating ropes course.

  • Summer Landing – Beyond The Shores zone, Summer Landing will continue Deck 8’s relaxed vibe and bring together some of Carnival guests’ favorites. This area is home to Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse, which offers smoked-onboard favorites created by longtime Carnival partner, celebrity chef and restaurateur Guy Fieri and an assortment of Carnival’s ParchedPig craft beers from the onboard brewery. Other popular venues include the Heroes Tribute Lounge, honoring military personnel, as well The Patio – which features a pool and whirlpools – and The Watering Hole poolside bar.

  • Lido – The poolside zone, which spans Decks 16 and 17, is home to the Carnival Seaside Theater, two-story RedFrog Tiki Bar, BlueIguana Cantina and guest-favorite Guy’s Burger Joint. Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken restaurant, Seafood Shack, Street Eats, Lido Marketplace, Circle C, Club 02 and The Warehouse Arcade ensure this area is packed with something for everyone.

Carnival Jubilee first sails from Galveston on Dec. 23, 2023, joining Carnival Breeze and Carnival Dream operating from Galveston year-round, offering week-long Western Caribbean cruises. In 2024, Carnival will increase its deployment in Galveston to four ships when Carnival Miracle begins operating a new series of longer cruises from the port.
