A Star is Born - Princess Cruises Names Second Sphere Class Ship STAR PRINCESS

Newest Princess Ship from Princess is a Cruise Lover’s Dream, Sails Inaugural 2025 Mediterranean Season

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (May 12, 2023) – Princess Cruises, the most iconic cruise line in the world, today revealed the name of its second, sensational Sphere Class cruise ship – Star Princess, which will sail an inaugural season of Mediterranean voyages when she debuts in August 2025.

Currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, Star Princess joins Sun Princess as the largest ships ever built for Princess at 175,500 tons and carrying 4,300 guests. The new ship is built on a platform that is distinctly different and unique to Princess, designed to simultaneously embrace the Princess heritage while celebrating the romance of the sea by offering more dynamic, outward views.

While 20 percent larger than any of the line’s existing ships, Star Princess design retains the more intimate settings Princess is known for, with a number of new and incredibly ground-breaking spaces such as:

  • The Dome, a transformational entertainment venue inspired by the terraces of Santorini;

  • the next-level Piazza featuring a glass sphere

  • the “see it to believe it” Princess Arena, a configurable, technologically-advanced main theater that allows Princess to produce a variety of innovative entertainment concepts; and

  • a majestic dining room positioned aft of the ship to deliver unforgettable wake views.

This second Sphere Class ship will also offer a number of spectacular features with an array of exciting new food and beverage concepts; a magnificent, expanded casino; a two-story Lotus Spa; and mesmerizing entertainment headlined by Cirque Éloize.

Guests also will love the expanded accommodations options with luxurious staterooms and suites, including the new Reserve and Signature Collections.

Star Princess also will showcase the exclusive Princess Medallion service that extends Princess’ leadership position in delivering exceptional personalized experiences.

The new ship will be the second in the Princess fleet to be powered by LNG fuel technology and also is being built with the most advanced sustainable innovations available.

Star Princess debuts August 4, 2025, sailing a nine-day Inaugural Italy & Greece roundtrip voyage from Rome (Civitavecchia), featuring the destinations of Corfu, Kotor, Mykonos, Santorini and Naples (for Capri and Pompeii), followed by a variety of 9- and 10-day cruises sailing from Rome, Athens or Trieste (Venice) that visit idyllic coastal ports. Star Princess cruises go on sale with the larger Europe 2025 program release on June 1, 2023.

“There’s much to be admired about Star Princess - her sleek, eye-catching design, spacious interiors, and of course, the remarkable views of the sea and sky, just like the features found on Sun Princess that have prompted cruise lovers to snap up inaugural year bookings,” said John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises. “We’ve carefully designed these ships to feel familiar to our guests yet significantly advanced with lots of exceptional new and expanded experiences to embrace and explore.”

Princess’ first Star Princess ship initially launched in 1988 as Sitmar Fair Majesty. With the merger of Sitmar Cruises into Princess, she then entered service as Star Princess in 1989, and was christened by legendary actress and humanitarian Audrey Hepburn. The second Star Princess launched in 2002, as the third Grand-Class vessel playing an instrumental role in the evolution of the brand with popular offerings like Anytime Dining, the only dining program in the industry at the time to give guests freedom to dine where, when and with whom they wish.

Further details about Star Princess including dining, entertainment, onboard amenities and future itineraries will be shared in the coming months. Ship information and images can be found at https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/ships/st-star-princess/.

Establishing Port Canaveral as a homeport is part of the expansion of Princess Cruises’ North America presence to offer exciting new voyage options that guests can conveniently access from major drive markets like Central Florida.

CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE SPOTLIGHTS TEAM MEMBERS PUTTINGTHE ‘FAMILY’ IN ‘FAMILY FUN’ FOR MOTHER’S DAY

CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE SPOTLIGHTS TEAM MEMBERS PUTTING THE ‘FAMILY’ IN ‘FAMILY FUN’ FOR MOTHER’S DAY

Mother-Daughter and Mother-Son Duos Reflect on Family Bonds and Ship Life

MIAMI, May 11, 2023 – At Carnival Cruise Line this Mother’s Day, two Carnival moms who share a special bond with their children as part of the shipboard team are sharing about motherhood as well as working and living at sea.

The two profiles that follow feature mother-daughter and mother-son pairs working on different ships across the Carnival fleet while serving the same mission of helping to provide fun and memorable vacations for families every day.

Madelein Marais and Charnè

Madelein Marais and her daughter Charnè are from South Africa. Madelein works in guest services on Carnival Valor, and Charnè works in human resources on Carnival Magic.

  • What does it mean to you to have your daughter also working at Carnival?

Madelein: It’s a privilege, and I'm thankful every time I hear nice compliments about her and how well she is doing. I had the amazing opportunity to work with Charnè on Carnival Dream and could see first-hand how she adapted to ship life and blossomed as a person. It is also so valuable to have her to talk to about ship life; she understands everything I'm talking about – even our special ship language.

  • Why did you decide to follow in your mom’s footsteps and work at Carnival?

Charnè: Every time we spoke, she would talk about how happy she is and how amazing the places she’s visiting are; she also spoke about how great Carnival is and that it truly feels like a family on board. I was finishing my degree and knew I wanted to travel the world and start building a new career, so Carnival seemed like the perfect place for me.

  • What’s your favorite Mother’s Day memory?

Madelein: Last year, she took me for a Mother's Day weekend while we were on vacation in South Africa. We did a wine tour together and talked and laughed as if the rest of the world didn't exist.

Charnè: I surprised her with a weekend away in Stellenbosch, Cape Town, and we visited some of the best wine farms; it was a great way to spend some time together and show her how much I appreciate her.

Loreta Torres and Psalm

Loreta Torres and her son Psalm are from the Philippines. Loreta works in guest services on Mardi Gras, and Psalm works as a healthcare assistant on Carnival Dream.

  • Why did you decide to follow in your mom’s footsteps and work at Carnival?

Psalm: Carnival made a great impact on our lives. With the help of Carnival, I was able to graduate with my bachelor’s degree, and now I am a registered medical technologist. I saw and felt how the company has taken care of my mom and treated her not just as an employee but as part of the family as well.

  • How do you stay in touch?

Loreta: We are always chatting. We call each other often, and luckily, once a month, we see each other when we’re in the same port.

Psalm: Thankfully the company provides a free chat service to stay in touch with family and friends. Also, whenever our ships meet, we can enjoy quality time together.

  • What’s your best Mother’s Day memory?

Loreta: He would always serenade me with his guitar and a meaningful song.

  • How will you celebrate Mother’s Day this year?

Loreta: Usually, we celebrate with dinner at our favorite restaurant together with his siblings, or if I was on board, they would buy a cake and show it to me on a video call.

Psalm: I usually send her a greeting message with a photo of me and our dog.

Carnival’s onboard teams will help families celebrate this upcoming Mother's Day by hosting appreciation events fleetwide. Guests on board this weekend may also choose from a variety of Mother's Day-themed activities, from a Famous Mom's Trivia game to special craft-making.

Seattle, Wash., May 12, 2023Holland America Line’s 2023 Grand World Voyage concluded today at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 128 days after it departed from the port Jan. 3, 2023. This is the first Grand World Voyage the cruise line has operated since 2020 and the 59th since its first world cruise departed aboard Statendam Jan. 7, 1958.

During Zuiderdam’s journey around the world, the ship visited 57 ports in 30 countries on four continents and cruised 35,651 nautical miles (39,875 land miles). Highlights included funds raised for Bernhard Nordkamp Centre in Namibia, Africa; blankets knitted by guests for Project Linus; and celebrating the company’s 150th Anniversary in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with Holland America Line President Gus Antorcha.

“Like our guests, we have been eagerly anticipating the return of our Grand World Voyage, and the 2023 world cruise was an exceptional journey for not only the places we visited, but the memories made along the way,” said Antorcha. “A world cruise is more than just a travel experience; it’s building a community of friends and family. And our guests generously gave their time and funds for some worthy causes during the journey, for which I extend gratitude on behalf of everyone at Holland America Line.”

Guests Raise Funds and Knit for a Cause

Zuiderdam guests raised $10,000 for The Bernhard Nordkamp Centre in Namibia, which was presented to the organization during the ship’s call at Walvis Bay. The BNC services approximately 150 kids in grades one through seven who come in after their school day to receive support, food, additional education and positive social interaction.

Continuing a tradition that began more than a decade ago on the Grand World Voyage, guests made 618 blankets for Project Linus throughout the sailing. Nearly 75 blanketeers and 20 non-knitting volunteers participated in the Project Linus endeavor this year. With yarn brought on by guests, donated prior to departure and funds given by Holland America Line, guests of all knitting and crocheting abilities made blankets for children in the United States who are ill, traumatized or otherwise in need.

Organized this year by guests Gail and Marty Gottlieb, the couple drove a U-Haul truck to Port Everglades for the start of the Grand World Voyage with one-million yards of yarn in over 40 different colors, along with hooks, needles and ball winders. The blankets will be picked up by the local South Florida chapter of Project Linus at the port.

Themed Events and Culinary Delights

During the voyage, guests dressed to the nines for events that featured a Grand Masquerade, Derby Night, Casino Royale, Mardi Gras Night of Music and “Once Upon a Time.”  More than a dozen casual, themed evenings around Lido pool included a glamp out, Burgers and Beer, Grand Fair, surprise party with the ship’s team members, Biergarten Festival, “Let Them Eat Cake” and “An Evening in France.”

2023 Grand World Voyage Highlights and Fun Facts:

  • Zuiderdam visited imaginary Null Island (0°N/S & 0°E/W) where the equator crosses the Prime Meridian and visitors became an Emerald Shellback, the rarest shellback (a sailor who has crossed the equator) designation.

  • On April 18, Antorcha visited the ship in Amsterdam during an overnight call to celebrate the company’s 150th Anniversary.

  • Guests indulged in 31,248 bottles of wine and champagne.

  • 200,606 lbs. of fresh vegetables and 173,903 lbs. of fresh fruit were consumed.

  • 40,905 fresh eggs were scrambled, poached and used as ingredients.

  • Guests drank 133,293 soft drinks.

  • The ship served nearly 200,000 lbs. of meat (beef, pork, lamb, poultry, veal).

  • Guests enjoyed 56,306 lbs. of seafood.

  • 7,793 tea bags were used to brew a cuppa, as well as 3,277 bags of coffee.

  • More than $200,000 in foreign currencies were exchanged.

Cirque Éloize weds the circus arts with music, dance, technology and theater to enthrall audiences seeking meaningful entertainment.

“The Dome is a transformational space that creates a stunning vista with sweeping views of the ocean and creates an unprecedented setting to stage avant-garde spectaculars that will absolutely fascinate our guests,” said Francois Leroux, Princess Senior Vice President, Creative Design and Entertainment. “We’re thrilled to bring this collaboration with Cirque Éloize to life with three original shows, created specifically for this innovative and spectacular space on our next-generation Sun Princess.”

Three, spectacular 20- to 30-minute shows will rotate onboard Sun Princess in The Dome. With disciplines of aerial hoops, aerial pole, bungee, Cyr wheel, silks, mind-bending contortion and more, guests will be enthralled with:

  • BLUE – Poetic, Universal, Uplifting: A journey into the magical space between ocean and sky where the spirit of love leads the artists through time and space highlighting both the real and the surreal bringing them to realize that no matter how far they go, the spirit of love is always with them.

  • COME FLY AWAY – Playful, Musical, Interactive: This performance evokes notions of the 1950’s era Rat Pack and the vibrancy of love. A whimsical retro spectacle in which the bandleader – aided and abetted by his ensemble of misfits – falls head over heels for an audience member. It’s a celebration of the lost art of the chase in which all are willing participants.

  • ARTBEAT – Uplifting, Colorful, Positive. This upbeat show celebrates the beauty and joy of living life in full color. A kaleidoscope of characters work together in perfect harmony, each contributing their talents to create a truly beautiful masterpiece, reflective of the vibrant heartbeat of the performers and the audience alike.

Cirque Éloize performances will be complimentary and available to Sun Princess guests on a first come, first serve basis.

Currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, the 175,500-ton, 4,300-guest Sun Princess will offer an array of exciting new culinary, entertainment and activity offerings, as well as luxurious staterooms and suites across a broad spectrum of categories.

Sun Princess will also feature the exclusive Princess Medallion that will extend Princess’ leadership position in delivering exceptional personalized experiences typical of small ships while enjoying only the best large ship amenities.

EXPLORA JOURNEYS PRESENTS OCEAN JOURNEYS DESIGNED SPECIALLY FOR MULTI-GENERATIONAL FAMILIES

Geneva, Switzerland, May 11, 2023: Explora Journeys extends a very special welcome to families with a dedicated program that caters for multi-generations traveling together.

With suites that interconnect, a Nautilus Club for young and teenagers, and special destination experiences created to maximize enjoyment for all generations, families embarking on the trip of a lifetime on board EXPLORA I and EXPLORA II can expect an inspiring journey and wonderful memories.

Interconnecting suites: a luxurious home at sea

Guests can choose from 78 interconnecting suites in three luxurious categories: Ocean Suites, Ocean Penthouses and Ocean Residences. These spacious onboard apartments allow families the freedom to create their own ‘home at sea’ with all the privacy they require. Of course, groups don’t come in standard sizes, so families can choose a permutation that will give them the space they need. All accommodation reflects Explora Journeys’ rigorous standards of modern European craftsmanship and vibrant design.

It is the level of detail that gives Explora Journeys’ suites an edge, with every little comfort to help families feel at home. Thoughtful touches abound, such as dedicated bathrobes, slippers and hangers to make younger guests feel special; even tiny travelers will feel cozy with amenities such as baby cribs and bedlinens, blankets and baby pillows.

Journey Together Gathering: an industry first program

For guests booking a minimum of three/maximum of four suites, with one suite required to be an Ocean Penthouse or Ocean Residence groups can enjoy this space together as a social hub, to gather, relax and enjoy each other’s company in a private setting. This is perfect for a gathering of friends or an extended multi-generational family. In addition, travelers with children will benefit from one under-18 in each suite sailing for free as well as complimentary transfers to the ship for all guests booked on the Journey Together Gathering program.

Me-time for grownups

Even the most dedicated parents value a little downtime – a tranquil drink, a leisurely swim, or just sitting quietly and enjoying a panoramic view of a perfect sunset. All this and more they will find at the Helios Pool & Bar, reserved solely for adults. In the other public spaces – restaurants, lounges, pools and bars – children are more than welcome. At any time of the day, the culinary team will be delighted to offer a variety of choices to accommodate the wishes of our little guests.

Chris Austin, Chief Sales Officer, of Explora Journeys, said, “Designing our Journey Together Gatherings program has been a highly collaborative process with the travel advisor community. We are proud to launch this unique programe, providing a valuable opportunity to target gatherings of friends and multi-generational families.”

Destination experiences specially for families

A family adventure is all about sharing, caring, learning and exploring – and building a wealth of unforgettable memories. Guests can look forward to all this and more. Children, for instance, will have fun while they discover more about the planet: ‘edutainment’ activities might include a visit to a space centre where they will be hosted by an astronaut. Budding oceanographers might find themselves on a whale-watching adventure brought to life by riveting stories from a marine biologist.

Engaging younger guests

* Infants aged 6–24 months will have age-appropriate toys available in-suite, but no organized activities or facilities at Nautilus Club.

Nautilus Club: The attractions of Nautilus Club guarantee that it will quickly become a hub for young and teenagers aged 6–17. Open from 09:00 to 00:00, the huge choice of games, sports, adventures and activities will provide a release for young energies. This includes dedicated time at the Sports Court and one of the heated swimming pools, as well as additional locations around the ship. Throughout, they will be vigilantly led by Nautilus Club hosts certified in safeguarding children and following CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association) policies and standards on youth activities. Parents can be assured that hosts are responsible as well as relaxed and creative in their approach to making sure young guests enjoy their time on board.

Even little guests aged 3 to 5 (accompanied by a parent or guardian) are welcome at Nautilus Club. They will find time slots exclusively dedicated to their age group, packed with exciting activities created specifically for them. And although the very youngest travelers aged 6 to 24 months are too tiny to join the fun at the Club, they haven’t been forgotten: there are age-appropriate toys to entertain them in their suites.

For tech-savvy youngsters, Nautilus Club offers next-generation consoles such as PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, iPads and Oculus Pro to sharpen their skills. And if they feel like testing themselves against their peers, they can do so in organized technology tournaments.

Competitive youngsters will find an outlet in a foosball and multi-game table, plus an ultra-contemporary pool table, made by luxury Italian design company MBM Biliardi. When they feel like chilling out with new friends, there’s a jukebox tablet connected to streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple, a wide selection of board games, and a multilingual digital library with books offering a variety of genres.

Young creative talents will love the paint art and craft play sessions, while everyone will enjoy the fun and games in locations throughout the ship. And when it’s time to take a break, a chill-out space offers quiet relaxation. All in all, Nautilus Club’s excitement and opportunities are bound to give young travelers plenty to share with their friends on social media.

Matteo Mancini, Explora Journeys Youth Entertainment Senior Manager, said: “The team here at Explora Journeys has ensured that all children and young people who journey with us will be as entertained, enriched and invigorated as our more experienced, discerning travelers. With Nautilus Club on board our ships, we can offer our young guests an extraordinary experience. For them, luxury is being listened to and having their needs satisfied, and we’ve achieved this by putting young and teenagers at the center of every choice we make. On board, they’ll find everything they love – a secret place just for them where they can have fun and be themselves. And being part of Nautilus Club will give them the chance to share their unique journey with their friends and on social media. The MSC group combines the expertise gained on board contemporary ships – including winning six ‘Best Cruise Line for Families’ international awards – with its experience in hosting more than 350,000 youngsters every year. It has enabled us to come up with a completely new vision for engaging Generation Z that is packed with innovative details and original ideas.”

Nautilus Club and MSC Foundation: In partnership with the MSC Foundation, Nautilus Club gives young ambassadors for the environment an incredible activity program focused on caring for planet Earth and its oceans. Expertly designed to engage, fascinate and inform lively young minds, these include immersive workshops and discussions on marine conservation, environmental footprint, the sustainable practices employed on board Explora Journeys’ ships, the impact of tourism, and community support.

The advantages for families sailing together

Young explorers and their families can take advantage of exceptional savings when they journey together:

  • Infants aged 6–23 months** sail free of charge.

  • Children aged 2–17 years** can enjoy up to 50% off the journey fare.

To benefit from this offer, infants and children need to be registered as the third or fourth guests in the same suite. (The first and second guests are not eligible, regardless of their age at time of sailing.)

* Very young babies (under 6 months old) are unfortunately too tiny to participate in the thrill of an ocean adventure, but we look forward to welcoming them once they reach the age of 6 months.

**Age at the time of sailing.

Savings relate to selected categories of suites. Terms and conditions apply.

Holland America Line’s ‘On Deck for a Cause’ Focuses on Alaska’s Parks and Public Lands Through Partnership with Alaska Geographic

Proceeds from the 5k walk on each Alaska cruise will go to benefit Alaska’s parks

Seattle, Wash., May 9, 2023 — For its 2023 Alaska cruise season, Holland America Line will donate proceeds from its “On Deck for a Cause” event aboard ships in the region to Alaska Geographic, the nonprofit education partner of Alaska’s parks, forests, refuges and conservation lands. Holland America Line has six ships exploring the spectacular landscapes of Alaska from May through September 2023.

Called “On Deck for a Cause: Alaska’s Parks,” guests on all Alaska cruises will be invited to donate $25 to participate in a noncompetitive 5k fundraising walk aboard every sailing.  Participants receive an On Deck for a Cause T-shirt, wrist band and enjoy a reception following the walk. Funds raised through “On Deck for a Cause: Alaska’s Parks” will go to support education, science and research in Alaska’s parks.

“Not only do we love Alaska, but our guests can’t help but fall in love with everything that makes Alaska so spectacular, from its glaciers and wildlife to its cultural and natural beauty, which all directly benefit from the good work of Alaska Geographic,” said Michael Smith, senior vice president, guest experience and product development. “We are proud to support Alaska Geographic in their mission to make Alaska’s public lands more accessible to everyone and boost their work to preserve them for future generations.”

On every Holland America Line cruise to Alaska, the region’s incredible glaciers and natural landscapes take center stage. Holland America Line sails to Glacier Bay National Park more than any other cruise line and hosts a Glacier Bay National Park Ranger on board to help spot wildlife and explain the historic significance behind every sight. On every Alaska overland Cruisetour, guests explore Denali National Park for up to three nights, going in search of the “Big Five” (grizzly bears, caribou, moose, Dall sheep and wolves), river rafting, hiking or flightseeing with a chance to land on Denali.

“The funds raised through Holland America Line’s ‘On Deck for a Cause: Alaska’s Parks’ directly support Alaska Geographic’s mission to connect people with Alaska’s parks, forests, refuges, and conservation lands,” said Andy Hall, executive director, Alaska Geographic. “Their guests come to Alaska from around the world to see incredible places like Glacier Bay and Denali national parks. On Deck for a Cause gives them the opportunity to give back by supporting our mission while learning about the importance of stewardship of these public lands.”

Nearly half a million participants have joined in more than 8,400 walks aboard Holland America Line cruises since the inception of the “On Deck” program in 2006. Currently, On Deck for a Cause benefits the global humanitarian aid organization Direct Relief and has raised more than $550,000 for Ukrainian aid over the past 14 months. The remaining five ships in the Holland America Line fleet will continue to raise funds for Direct Relief with On Deck for a Cause.

Oceania Cruises Officially Welcomes Vista, First of All-New Allura Class

MIAMI, May 9, 2023 -- Oceania Cruises, the world's leading culinary- and destination-focused cruise line, last night christened its newest ship Vista at a glittering ceremony in Valletta, Malta. The first of the line's Allura Class vessels, the stunning 1,200-guest, all-veranda ship made her debut with a star-studded celebration headlined by her godmother, celebrated Italian-American chef, author, restaurateur and Emmy award-winning food personality Giada De Laurentiis, and an exclusive performance from legendary Grammy and Emmy award-winning musician Harry Connick, Jr.

"We have been eagerly awaiting this historic day as we christen our first new ship in more than ten years and pave the way for an exciting future," said Frank A. Del Rio, President of Oceania Cruises. "The world-class experience of this beautiful ceremony perfectly aligns with Vista's impeccable onboard experience, which features a stunning design, exceptional entertainment, top-notch service and innovative culinary delights. We are so thankful to our team members and partners worldwide who have worked tirelessly to bring us to Vista's grand debut."

At 791 feet (241 meters) long and more than 67,000 tons with capacity for 1,200 guests at double occupancy, Vista offers a market-leading staffing ratio with two crew members for every three guests. She also boasts the most spacious standard staterooms at sea, which measure more than 290 square feet, plus new Concierge Level Veranda Staterooms for solo travelers. Setting new standards for comfort and residential-style luxury, she features all-veranda accommodations. Vista's elevated variety of onboard activities include eight bars, lounges and entertainment venues plus the luxurious Aquamar Spa + Vitality Center and Aquamar Spa Terrace.

"I am so honored to have been chosen as godmother of this incredible new ship and be a part of this glorious night in Malta," said Giada De Laurentiis. "From amazing culinary experiences to thoughtful details at every turn, Vista is truly a dream ship. Cheers to this inaugural season and to everyone who sails aboard her."

Continuing to elevate The Finest Cuisine at Sea®, Vista features 11 onboard culinary venues including three which are new to Vista. These include Aquamar Kitchen, offering an array of wellness-inspired dishes with a hint of indulgence; The Bakery at Baristas, serving tempting freshly baked pastries; and new signature restaurant, Ember.

With an emphasis on innovating for drinks, as well as all things culinary, Vista is also introducing The Casino Mixology Bar, a new concept for the line, focused entirely on the art of the cocktail.

As godmother, De Laurentiis will create two signature dishes to be served in Toscana, Oceania Cruises' authentic Italian specialty restaurant evolved from rich family traditions, as well as The Grand Dining Room, the luxurious grand dame of the line's culinary venues.

Guests at the christening ceremony were treated to the opening performance of "Into the Night," Vista's dance-centric theatrical show led by renowned "Dancing with the Stars" pro dancer and choreographer Britt Stewart, before De Laurentiis took the stage to officially name and christen Vista with the ceremonial Champagne bottle break across the ship's hull. VIP attendees then enjoyed a concert by headliner and legendary live performer Connick, who delivered 60 minutes of non-stop entertainment. The spectacular evening ended with celebratory fireworks over Valletta's historic harbor.

"I've been honored to perform at countless special occasions but have to say that celebrating this beautiful ship's entry into service was extra special," said Harry Connick, Jr. "Bon voyage, Vista."

Following the seven-night roundtrip VIP christening cruise, Vista will sail her maiden voyage on May 13 from Rome to Venice before embarking on a sold out summer in the Mediterranean. In September, she will sail to Canada and New England before heading south for a series of winter itineraries exploring Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean from her homeport of Miami.

Vista's 2024 summer season will see her sail a series of Grand Voyages in the eastern Mediterranean, Aegean and Adriatic Seas, visiting an intriguing array of iconic cities and smaller boutique ports throughout Italy, Turkey, Greece and the Holy Lands. A full overview of Vista's 2023 and 2024 itineraries can be found at OceaniaCruises.com.

AIDA and ROSTOCK SEAWOLVES go into sponsoring extension

AIDA and ROSTOCK SEAWOLVES go into sponsoring extension

A strong platinum partnership for the region

May 8, 2023 11:30 AM EDT

At a joint event on board AIDAmar in the port of Rostock-Warnemünde today, Monday, May 8, 2023, the extension of the partnership between AIDA Cruises and the ROSTOCK SEAWOLVES for the upcoming 2023/2024 Basketball national league season was announced. AIDA Cruises will be the platinum sponsor for the sports club for the upcoming season.

"This partnership is much more than just a classic sponsorship. It thrives on joint actions and, above all, mutual support. For example, the AIDA fan block was filled to capacity at every home game. Over the course of the season, a total of 2,200 AIDA employees and relatives cheered on the SEAWOLVES at the local stadium. The joint establishment of the AIDA Student League as well as the involvement of our crew on board are further examples that show that it is a lively partnership on many different levels. From AIDA's point of view, we can state: It was a super start and we are already looking forward to the extension," said Felix Eichhorn, President AIDA Cruises.

AIDA Cruises has been a premium partner of the Basketball national league team ROSTOCK SEAWOLVES since August 2022 and at the same time also a reliable local partner that promotes cohesion and strengthens the region through joint measures. The AIDA employee fan block has already cheered the team on to many home victories. In return, the Wolves have helped create AIDA after-work events, co-founded the AIDA Student League, and provided an opportunity for the perfect work-life balance with the "FIT LIKE A WOLVE" app. Always present at every home game is the inviting AIDA action area in the foyer of StadtHalle Rostock, home to the basketball games. On this area, guests have the chance to win tickets for a home match of their choice of the current season. The AIDA ships are also in Seawolves fever: on board, the AIDA crew, outfitted in the distinctive Seawolves jerseys with the colorful AIDA logo on the players' shorts, shoot hoops on the high seas. As a platinum sponsor, AIDA Cruises is expanding this commitment further in the new season on board and ashore. The AIDA Student League and the "Basketball macht Schule" project will also continue.

Today the players of the ROSTOCK SEAWOLVES enjoyed their stay on board AIDAmar. They were welcomed by captain Andreas Etzien on the bridge, experienced the AIDA feeling on a tour of the ship and let themselves be pampered in the Body & Soul Spa after the last game of the season on Sunday. A highlight was the basketball match with the crew, where the pros showed tricks for the perfect basket shot.

"The two companies are not only connected by their location, but also by the same values such as cohesion, diversity and cosmopolitanism. Both AIDA Cruises and the ROSTOCK SEAWOLVES have a high charisma in Rostock and beyond ", says SEAWOLVES board member André Jürgens. "We are very much looking forward to the joint basketball season 2023/2024 with many more highlights and certainly one or two surprises."

Disney Cruise Line Debuts New Experiences Bringing the Imaginative Worlds of “Encanto” and “Soul” to the Disney Magic

CELEBRATION, Fla. (May 5, 2023) – From the magical mountains of Colombia to the bustling streets of New York City, the colorful worlds of two fan-favorite Disney films – Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto” and Disney and Pixar’s “Soul” – have come to life for the first time on the high seas with the debut of new family-friendly experiences aboard the Disney Magic. In addition to “Encanto”-themed entertainment and a “Soul”-inspired lounge, the ship’s concierge accommodations were enhanced with new theming and spacious refurbishments during a three-week dry dock project in Freeport, The Bahamas.

“An Encanto Celebration” Brings the Family Madrigal to the High Seas for the First Time

Guests can join the fantastical family Madrigal during an all-new immersive experience, “An Encanto Celebration,” designed to engage families through music, crafts and storytelling. The interactive experience gives guests an opportunity to meet and take photos with Mirabel and the family member we don’t talk about, Bruno, during their Disney Cruise Line debut. Families can also join a spirited sing-along of beloved “Encanto” songs and create butterfly and flower crafts inspired by the film. During the show, guests can experience a true taste of South America thanks to a selection of local Colombian beers, cocktails and sodas along with film-inspired mocktails.

New Soul Cat Lounge Hits the Right Note for Evening Entertainment

The heartfelt story of “Soul” was the inspiration for the brand-new Soul Cat Lounge designed to look like Joe Gardner’s favorite music spot from the film, the Half Note Lounge. The space, located on deck three near Rapunzel’s Royal Table restaurant, instantly transports guests to a classic New York jazz club appointed with decorative details like brick walls, wood accents and plenty of rich leather seating around a stage set for live music, so guests can grab their partner and head to the dance floor for a swinging good time each evening.

The Soul Cat Lounge is adorned with custom artwork from Pixar featuring nods to the film including record labels, concert posters and portraits of jazz legend Dorothea Williams and her bandmates. Thoughtful “Soul”-inspired details are subtly layered throughout the design including record players, instruments and Joe’s hat.

Adults can enhance their big city experience with table-side Manhattans and martinis or choose from a selection of native brews and cocktails made with New York spirits. A fun collection of mocktails, specialty coffees and sodas are also on the menu. In addition to new drink options, guests can take a bite of Little Italy with an order of zeppoles, the classic Italian pastry similar to a fried doughnut, while enjoying the live music.

Redesigned Concierge Retreats Provide an Elevated Experience

For guests seeking the ultimate comfort and service at sea, the concierge spaces aboard the Disney Magic have been elevated and enhanced. The concierge lounge was reimagined and expanded to feature a sophisticated new theme and tropical color palate inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Moana” and an additional outdoor covered seating area on deck 10 where guests can relax with a refreshing beverage while enjoying the ocean breeze. All concierge suites, including one- and two-bedroom accommodations and the two signature royal suites, have been completely refurbished with fresh fixtures, furniture and elegant artwork, further elevating the premium experience for concierge guests.

Shore power technology was also installed as part of the ship’s dry dock project, continuing Disney Cruise Line’s longtime dedication to minimizing its impact on the environment. When available at the port, this will allow the Disney Magic to “plug in” to the port’s electrical grid, reducing the ship’s emissions.

The Disney Magic is currently sailing its first of three itineraries from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Beginning May 24, the ship will return to Miami for a summer of cruises to The Bahamas and Caribbean including the “Silver Anniversary at Sea” celebration in honor of Disney Cruise Line’s 25th anniversary. This fall, the Disney Magic will head west for its inaugural season sailing out of San Diego.

CARNIVAL BRINGING 3 MILLION GUESTS TO MEXICO THIS YEAR, TO GROW TO 3.5 MILLION IN 2024

Cozumel is Carnival’s Most Visited Port in Mexico

Carnival Cruise Line is marking this Cinco de Mayo by highlighting that it expects more than three million guests to sail to Mexican ports this year on its ships, with projections growing to 3.5 million by 2024. Cozumel is Carnival’s most popular destination in Mexico, with an estimated 1.6 million guests visiting the port this year. Additional ports in Mexico that Carnival ships visit regularly include: Progreso, Costa Maya, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, Ensenada and Mazatlan.
Carnival offers various tours and excursions across Mexico. Here are five experiences that are among the most enjoyed by Carnival guests in the cruise line’s most popular Mexican destination of Cozumel.

Five Experiences Popular Among Carnival Guests Visiting Cozumel

  • Ancient City of Tulum. This tour brings guests to the ancient Mayan paradise kingdom of Tulum. Guests learn the history of Mayan culture and see a former Mayan trade site that stands atop a cliff. A guided tour explores the main temples of "El Castillo," the Temple of the Descendent God, the Maya Water Temple, and the Temple of the Frescoes.

  • Adventure Jeep, Snorkel & Anemona Beach Club: The natural beauty of Mexico’s east coast is on full display during this tour. Punta Sur Ecological Park is the largest nature reserve in Cozumel. It includes Anemona de Mar Beach Club, one of the most exclusive, secluded and untouched beaches located in the natural reserve as well as a visit to the Celarain Lighthouse – a picturesque place that provides the perfect backdrop for a tequila tasting session.

  • Tabasco's Chef Maestro, Cooking & Tasting: Guests learn the secrets of traditional Mexican regional cuisine as they prepare a delicious three-course meal under the guidance of a master chef. Along with the meal, guests also learn how to prepare a perfect margarita.

  • Amazing Secret River: One of the Cozumel region’s most unique natural treasures is a series of caverns connected by underground waterways called the Rio Secreto Natural Reserve. Guests are guided through a subterranean world to marvel at natural formations as they wade through the many caverns and swim in the crystal-clear cenote.

  • Xcaret Park: Thanks to its privileged location next to the Caribbean Sea in the Mayan jungle among underground rivers and cenotes, Xcaret Park offers a wide variety of different activities for guests to enjoy. From the aviary that provides sanctuary to more than 1,500 native birds to the underground Blue, Manatee and Mayan rivers and the aquarium that showcases the richness of Mexico’s coral reefs, Xcaret Park and attractions honor Mexico’s natural wonders and the wildlife that inhabit them.

CARNIVAL CRUISE LINE UNVEILS ITS MOST POPULAR MARGARITAS FOR CINCO DE MAYO

Carnival Ships to Serve More Than 15,000 Margaritas Fleetwide Today

This Cinco de Mayo, Carnival Cruise Line is revealing its most-ordered margarita drinks at its Mexican-inspired BlueIguana Tequila Bar, which is popular with guests on the many ships that feature it across the fleet. Today, more than 15,000 margaritas will be served fleetwide.
Carnival’s BlueIguana features 17 tequilas and agave spirits and offers more than a dozen different margarita-based cocktails. So, which of the margaritas offered on board are guests’ favorites? For the first time, Carnival is revealing its top five most-ordered margaritas:

  1. Green Iguana – An intriguing, green creation made with 1800 Silver Tequila and Midori, this margarita combines the flavors of coconut, pineapple juice and citrus.

  1. Bite of Iguana – The feisty combination of Tromba Blanco Tequila, peach schnapps, Skyy Vodka, orange juice, citrus and Sierra Mist create this unique take on the margarita.

  1. Agave Pineapple Tea – This pineapple refreshment packs a punch and includes Tromba Blanco Tequila, Bacardi Rum, Bombay Original Gin, Skyy Vodka, citrus, pineapple and a splash of soda.

  1. Mango Margarita – A margarita with a sweet and tropical twist, this tropical delight mixes 1800 Silver Tequila, J.F. Haden’s Mango Liqueur, citrus, simple syrup and pineapple juice.

  1. Blue’s Patron Margarita – BlueIguana’s signature margarita tops the list by far. Made with Patrón Silver Tequila, triple sec, agave nectar and fresh lime juice, this cocktail is the most popular margarita on Carnival cruise ships.

BlueIguana Tequila Bar is featured on nearly every Carnival ship sailing from the U.S. The Mexican-themed bar offers drinks that complements food offerings at the nearby Blue Iguana Cantina.

Carnival Cruise Line and Port of Seattle Welcome Carnival Luminosa as Ship Embarks Guests from U.S. for First Time

Carnival Cruise Line and Port of Seattle Welcome Carnival Luminosa as Ship Embarks Guests from U.S. for First Time

Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy welcomed the first guests to board Carnival Luminosa from a U.S. port in Seattle today. The ship arrived at the Port of Seattle after a 23-day transpacific journey that began in Brisbane, Australia to begin a series of sailings to Alaska.

Carnival Luminosa is Carnival’s third ship sailing to Alaska this season and part of a deployment that will see 100,000 guests visit spectacular destinations that include Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, as well as Victoria, B.C., and the cruising of Tracy Arm Fjord. Carnival has seen an extraordinary response for its upcoming Alaska cruises, so to welcome guests and help kick off the season, Duffy held a special event at the Port of Seattle’s Pier 91 cruise terminal.

“Not only is Carnival Luminosa completing our Alaska deployment for this season, which was so successful last year after we expanded it to three ships that we decided to bring her all the way from Australia to do it again, but she’s also front and center in another important effort for us as well,” Duffy said. “Work starts today on getting Carnival Luminosa shore power ready so she can hook up to the port when she’s docked here in Seattle. Shore power is one of our overall sustainability initiatives and Carnival Luminosa is now part of that important investment in our future.”

Carnival expects the ship will be ready to plug in and operate on electric power while at the port of Seattle by early June. Once the work is complete, Carnival Luminosa will join her sister ships also deployed to Alaska this season that are already utilizing shore power – Carnival Spirit, which is also homeporting in Seattle, and Carnival Miracle, homeporting in San Francisco.

Carnival Luminosa is one of Carnival’s latest additions to the fleet, having joined the Carnival fleet in November of 2022 from a Carnival Corporation sister line, the ship underwent a series of refurbishments and began homeporting in Brisbane, Australia. Now, after the first-time cruising through U.S. waters, the ship is embarking guests in Seattle who will be some of the first from America to see and experience it. Retaining much of its beautiful European styling, the ship boasts a unique aesthetic and some exclusive features, such as a Cloud 9 Spa spanning two decks with one of the fleet’s most expansive thermal areas. Much like her sisters, the ship also features many guest-favorite Carnival venues, including Alchemy BarFahrenheit 555 Steakhouse and RedFrog Rum BarPiano Bar 88 and The Punchliner Comedy Club.

Next year, between two transpacific cruises that feature visits to Japan and Hawaii, Carnival Luminosa will again join Carnival Spirit to homeport in Seattle, operating seven-, eight- and 14-day sailings, and Carnival Miracle will return to San Francisco , where 10- and 11-day cruises are available.
